ING OF "REMARKS" IN THE REGISTRY RECORD.
21. Oath For Registrants. One of the officers of registration shall
administer to all persons who shall personally apply to register the
following oath or affirmation: "You do solemnly swear (or affirm)
that you will fully and truly answer all such questions as shall be put
to you touching your place of residence, name, place of birth, your
qualifications as a voter, and your right as such to register and vote
under the laws of this State".
REGISTRATION BY JUDGES ACTING AS
BOARDS OF REGISTRY
22. Boards of Registry. (a) Appointment. The Board of Super-
visors of Elections in each of the counties shall designate two of the
judges appointed in each precinct as registration officers (taking
one judge from each of the two major political parties in the State).
The two judges so named shall constitute the board of registry for
their respective district or precinct.
(b) Powers. Said officers of registration, and each of them, in
addition to their powers as judges of election, shall have, during the
respective times of the appointed sittings of said board of registry,
authority to keep the peace and to preserve order and enforce obedi-
ence to their lawful commands at and around their places of regis-
tration; to keep access to such places open and unobstructed; to pre-
vent and suppress riots, tumult, violence and disorder; and to prevent
any improper practices at and around their places of registration.
They may compel by summons the presence of witnesses before them
for any purpose connected with the duties of their office.
(c) Process. They shall have the power to issue any summons to
the Sheriff of said county or to any constable or police officer thereof;
and such process shall be served by said officers in the same manner
as if issued by a court of record having jurisdiction of the subject
matter or by a justice of the peace exercising police powers within
such respective jurisdictions, the said officer serving any of said
process to receive the same fees as in other State cases.
(d) Police Authorities. The police authorities for the respective
counties shall detail such number of peace officers as may be required
to preserve order at the places of registration in said counties.
23. Registration Records. (a) Requirements. The Supervisors of
Elections in the respective counties shall furnish to each board of
registry, registration records which shall be in the form of (1)
registry books or (2) cards or loose-leaf pages. If registry books are
used, there shall be two such books, which shall be prepared sub-
stantially in the following form:
