Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Civil Juris-
diction", and to enact a new Sub-section (k) to said section, Article
and sub-title of said Code, to follow immediately after Sub-section
(j) thereof, increasing the civil jurisdiction of trial magistrates
in Worcester County to $300.00.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section (b) of Section 6 of Article 52 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace",
sub-title "Civil Jurisdiction", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments; and a new Sub-section (k) be and it is
hereby added to said section, Article and sub-title of said Code, to
follow immediately after Sub-section (j) thereof, and all to read
as follows:

6.

(b) Two hundred dollars in certain counties.—Trial magistrates
of Garrett, Kent, Queen Anne's [,] and Somerset [and Worcester]
counties shall have civil jurisdiction in all cases hereinbefore men-
tioned in this section and involving amounts not exceeding two hun-
dred Dollars.

(k) Worcester County.—Trial Magistrates of Worcester County
shall have civil jurisdiction in all cases hereinbefore mentioned in
this section, instituted after June 1, 1957, and involving amounts
not exceeding three hundred dollars ($300.00).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(House Bill 913)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section (w)
of Section 38 of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and
Duties", relating to the compensation and expense allowances of the
Sheriff and deputy sheriffs in Worcester County and providing for
additional deputies to be appointed by the Sheriff.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section (w) of Section 38 of Article 87 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-title
"Compensation and Duties", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(w) The sheriff of Worcester County shall receive an annual salary
of $2,400. He shall appoint not less than two deputies who shall each
