sub-title "County Commissioners", to be known as Section 43C
and to follow immediately after Section 43B of said Article, as
said Section was enacted by Chapter 129 of the Acts of 1955,
authorizing the County Commissioners of Carroll County to levy
a tax annually for four years for the purpose of constructing a
county hospital.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 7 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Car-
roll County", sub-title "County Commissioners", to be known as
Section 43C and to follow immediately after Section 43B of said
Article, to read as follows:
43C. The County Commissioners shall levy annually, for the
years 1957, 1958, 1959, and 1960, beginning January 1, 1957, and
collect from the assessable property in Carroll County, as other
county taxes are levied and collected, the sum of Fifty Thousand
Dollars ($50,000.00) for the purpose of constructing a county hos-
pital; said sum of money to be retained by the County Commissioners
until a time when subscriptions received from private citizens reaches
at least Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00), at which
time the County Commissioners shall turn over the tax money col-
lected under this Section to the Hospital Committee; provided, how-
ever, that if construction of the hospital is not commenced by June
1, 1960, all money collected as provided by this Section shall be
applied to the county debt.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, sub-section (j)
of Section 40 of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in
Fact", sub-title "State's Attorney", providing for an increase in
salary of the State's Attorney, Deputy State's Attorney and pre-
sent Assistant State's Attorneys for Montgomery County, and the
effective date of said increases; and to provide for appointment
of an additional Assistant State's Attorney for said county and
compensation therefor, and permitting the County Council to in-
crease the compensation of said additional Assistant State's At-
torney in its discretion and relating generally to the duties of the
State's Attorney, Deputy and Assistant State's Attorneys for
said county.
