Tobacco Authority", to follow immediately after Section 70 thereof,
relating to purchases of tobacco by certain licensed persons and to
the regulation of such purchases and the penalty for violations
thereof.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 70A be and it is hereby added to Article 48 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Inspections", sub-
title "State Tobacco Authority", to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 70 thereof, and to read as follows:
70A. (a) Every person required to be licensed under Section
73(b) herein and being that class of buyers and purchasers commonly
known and referred to as "transfer buyers", shall make every pur-
chase of any tobacco weighing less than 300 pounds subject to the
following conditions.
(b) Every such purchaser shall record every purchase of tobacco
on a triplicate receipt form containing the following data: (1) Name
of seller or producer of the tobacco and location of farm where
grown; (2) Time of the sale; (3) Quantity sold; (4) Type or grade of
tobacco sold. One copy of the receipt form, shall be given to the
seller or producer, one copy shall be delivered or mailed to the office
of the sheriff of the county wherein the seller or producer resides
within twenty-four hours after the sale, and retained by the sheriff
for public inspection for a period of at least six months, and the
third copy shall be retained by the said purchaser as part of his
records for a period of at least six months.
(c) The purchaser shall not resell, nor shall he add any other
tobacco to or remove any other tobacco from any tobacco purchased
subject to the provisions of this section within a period of three days
after the purchase.
(d) Violation of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be
punished by a fine of not more than $500.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 11 of
Article 63 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Mechanic's Lien", increasing the time in which notice must
be given to the owner to ninety days.
