Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 55 of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Licenses", sub-title "Traders", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
55. If the applicant for a license lives out of the county or city
wherein he proposes to carry on such business of selling, bartering,
or otherwise disposing of or offering for sale such goods, chat-
tels, wares and merchandise, or if the applicant lives out of the
State, or is unable to apply in person by reason of sickness, or
bodily infirmity, his agent may apply for license [and use the form
and oath required in Section 43 (1939 Code)], in the manner pro-
vided in Section 2 of this Article.
Sec 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 7
(Senate Bill 46)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 13 of
Article 23B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supple-
ment), title "Municipal Corporation Charter", sub-title "The
Council", changing an incorrect cross reference therein contained.
Whereas, what is now Section 13 of Article 2803 in the 1956 Sup-
plement to the Maryland Code was enacted by Chapter 258 of the
Acts of 1955; and
Whereas, in this Act, a cross reference was incorrectly stated and
should be changed in order to avoid any misunderstandings in the
future; now, therefore
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 13 of Article 23B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Municipal Corporation Charter", sub-title
"The Council", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
13. Vacancies in council. Vacancies in the council shall be filled
as provided in Section [41] 39 of this charter.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
