go and remain at large in said town; and if any swine belonging
to the inhabitants as aforesaid, shall be found going and remain-
ing at large within said town, it shall and may be lawful for any
person or persons to impound the same, and shall immediately give
notice thereof, by advertisements set up at the most public places
in said town, describing the swine so impounded, and if the owner
or owners shall not within five days after the setting up said ad-
vertisements prove his or her property therein, and make compen-
sation for the injury, (if any,) which may have been sustained by
any inhabitant of said town, to be ascertained by any two disinte-
rested persons, inhabitants as aforesaid, and shall not pay for eve
ry such swine the sum of twenty-five cents for every day it shall
have been impounded, it shall and may be lawful for the person or
persons so impounding as aforesaid, to sell the same for his, her
or their own benefit.
2. And be it enacted, That if any person or persons shall be sued
and impleaded for selling any such swine as aforesaid, the defend-
ant or defendants may plead the general issue, and give this act
and special matter in evidence; Provided, that nothing in this act
contained shall be construed to extend to Frederick county.

An Act for the relief of John Carey, of Worcester County.
Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall
and may be lawful for the levy court of Worcester county to assess
and levy annually on the assessable property of said county, a
sum of money not exceeding thirty dollars, for the support of John
Carey, so long as they may see cause, as an out-pensioner, which
sum shall be levied as other county levies, and paid to the said
John Carey, or to his order.

CHAP. CXXIX.
An Act for the benefit of the Children of the late William H. Dorsey, of Mont-
gomery County.
Whereas it appears to this general assembly, by the petition
of the children of the late William H. Dorsey, of Montgomery
county, that he died intestate, seized and possessed of real and
personal property, and considerably indebted: And whereas the
said children have represented to this general assembly, that it
would be beneficial to all the parties concerned, if a part of the
real estate either belonging to the said William H. Dorsey, or
descending to the said children from their deceased mother, should
be sold in lieu of the personal property, so that the same, by
being thus exempted from the payment of the debts, might be
divided among the representatives of the said Dorsey; and it
appearing to this general assembly that the said prayer is rea-
sonable; therefore,
1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Ri-
chard B. Dorsey, the eldest son of the said William H. Dorsey, be
and he is hereby authorised and empowered, to sell and dispose of
such part of the real estate of the said William H. Dorsey, which
upon his death descended to his said children as heirs to him, or
such part of the real estate which, upon his death, descended to
them as heirs on the part of their mother, as the said Richard B.
Dorsey, and his sister and brothers of full age, shall by any writ-
