CHAP. CXVII.

A Supplements the act, entitled, An act for the benefit of the Infant Children
of Francis S. Manning, late of Charles County, deceased.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
proceedings of the orphans court of Charles county, in carrying
into effect the provisions of the act to which this is a supplement,
be and the same are hereby confirmed and made valid in law.

CHAP. CXVIII.

An Act authorising William Bruce, of Charles County, to bring into this State a
Negro Man called Nace, and to retain him as a Slave.

Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That William
Bruce, of Charles county, be and he is hereby authorised and em-
powered, to bring into this state, from the state of Virginia, a negro
man called Nace, and to retain him as a slave; Provided, that the
said William Bruce, shall register the said negro with the. clerk of
Charles county court, in the manner now required by law, within
three months from the passage of this act; And provided also, that
he shall not sell the said negro for three years after he shall have
registered him as aforesaid.

CHAP. CX1X.
An Act for the benefit of Noah Ross, of Caroline County.

1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Noah
Ross, of Caroline county, be and he is hereby authorised and em-
powered, to import and bring into this state a negro woman named
Dorcas, and her infant son Samuel, one negro boy named Brinkley,
and one other negro boy named Nathaniel, at any time, within one
year from the passage of this act, on his having the said slaves
duly recorded in the county court of Caroline, within six months
after the said removal, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.
2. And be it enacted, That nothing herein contained shall be con-
strued to enable the said Noah Ross to sell and dispose of the said
slaves imported by virtue of this act, until the said slaves shall
have resided within this state three whole years next preceding
such sale.

CHAP. CXX.

An Act to revive and keep in force an Act therein mentioned.
Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That John
Mathews, George Reed, Charles Tilden, Seth Godwin, and Richard
Hughlett, be and they or a majority of them, are hereby appointed
commissioners, and vested with full power and authority to carry
into full effect the act, entitled. An act for erecting a village at Chop-
tank bridge, in Caroline county, and for other purposes therein men-
tioned, and the several supplements thereto, and every part thereof,
which hath not been repealed, in as full and ample a manner, to all
intents and purposes, as the former commissioners could do were
they a living, any law, custom or usage, to the contrary notwith-
standing; Provided, that no person shall be obliged to act as bailiff
except he consents in writing to the same before his appointment.
