3. And be it enacted, That the said men, so chosen as above di-
rected, shall be entitled to receive as a compensation for their
services, a sum not exceeding two dollars per day for each and
every day that they shall serve, which said sum or suras the said
company shall pay.

CHAPTER 84.
An act for the relief of George Amick, of Frederick county.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
George Amick, now in confinement in Frederick county gaol, shall
be and he is hereby entitled to receive the benefit of the act, entit-
led. An act for the relief of sundry insolvent debtors, passed at
November session eighteen hundred and five, and the several sup-
plements thereto, according to the terms and conditions prescribed,
in said acts, without being obliged to furnish evidence that he has
resided two years within the state of Maryland.

CHAPTER 85.
An act to permit John Lester, of the City of Baltimore, to
bring certain Negroes from Virginia into this State.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John Lester of the city of Baltimore, be and he is hereby au-
thorised and empowered, to remove and bring into this state the
following negro slaves: Kitty, about nineteen years of age; Harry,
about twenty-two years of age; Caty, about forty years of age;
Betsy, about three years of age; and Lewis, about four years of
age; at any time within twelve months from the passage of this act,
for the purpose of working or employing such slave or slaves with-
in this state, in the immediate service of the said John Lester;
Provided, that a list of the aforesaid slaves shall be rendered in the
manner now required by law in cases where slaves acquired by
marriage, bequest, in the course of distribution, or as guardian, are
brought into this state.
2. And be it enacted, That nothing herein contained shall be
construed to enable the said John Lester to sell or dispose of the
said slaves, imported by virtue of this act, until the said slaves shall
have resided within this state three years next preceding such sale.

CHAPTER 86.
An act to change the Name of John De Bentelo De Sylve,
of Kent county, to that of John Wilmer Spencer Boyer.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the name of John De Bentelo De Sylve, of Kent county, be and
hereby is changed and altered unto the name of John Wilmer
Spencer Boyer, and it shall and may be lawful for the said John
De Bentelo De Sylve, at all times hen after, to be called anil
known by, and hold and use the name of John Wilmer Spencer
Boyer, and by that name to sue and be sued in any court of Jaw
or equity; and it shall and may be lawful for the issue of the said
John De Bentelo De, Sylve, born, or hereafter to be born, to take
upon themselves, and each of them, the surname of Boyer, instead
of the surname De Sylve; and the surname of the said John De
Bentelo De Sylve, shall be and is hereby changed and altered to
the surname of Buyer, and the issue of the said John De Bentelo
