count of opening any public road or landing, or damages on ac-
count of the same, the levy court may proceed immediately to cause
such road or landing to be made and opened.
4. And be it enacted, That the levy court of said county are

hereby authorised and empowered, to contract with any person or
persons, in such manner as they may deem most advantageous for
the county, fur the making and opening public roads or landings
granted tinder the law to which this is a supplement.
5. And be it enacted, That stone, earth, gravel and timber, may

be taken for the purpose of making any such public road or land-
ing, granted by said levy court, in the same manner that stone,
earth, gravel and timber, may be taken and used for the repairing
of public roads, agreeable to the ninth section of the law to which
this is a supplement.
6. And be it enacted, That for all stone, earth, gravel and tim-
ber, used in making such public roads or landings, the said levy
court may allow the owner thereof such sum as the court may think
reasonable, which shall be levied on the county for the use of such
owner.
7. And be it enacted, That all such parts of the law to which
this is a supplement, inconsistent with the provisions herein con-
tained, be and the same are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 31.

An act to increase the per diem of Jurors in Baltimore

County.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, each and every juror
summoned on the regular pannel of jurors to Baltimore county
courts, be and he is hereby entitled to receive, in lieu of his pre-
sent per diem, the sum of two dollars for each and every days at-
tendance.

CHAPTER 32.

An act for the relief of Jamima Rockhold, of Harford
County, and for other purposes.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the levy court of Harford county shall be and are hereby au-
thorised and empowered, to levy upon the assessable property of
said county, a sum of money, not exceeding the sum of thirty dol-
lars, at their next annual assessment, to be collected as other coun-
ty charges are collected, and paid over to Jamima Rockhold, or
her order, or to such other person whom the court may think pro-
per to appoint, for her use and maintenance.
2. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be lawful for the
trustees of the poor of Harford county, and they are hereby autho-
rised and empowered, in their discretion, to keep any number of
out-pensioners, not exceeding five at any one time, in addition to
the number already authorised by law, upon the same terms, and
under the same circumstances, as are prescribed by an act, entit-
led, "An act to enlarge further the powers of the trustees of the
poor in the several counties therein mentioned," passed at Novem-
ber session in the year eighteen hundred and four.
