ing, all manner of lands, tenements, Roods, chattels, rents, annui-
ties, liberties, franchises, or other property, real, personal or mix-
ed; Provided always, that the clear annual value or income from
the property of the said corporation shall not exceed the sum of
five thousand dollars exclusive of the monies arising from annual
or other stated subscriptions or payments.
3. And be it enacted, That the said corporation, and their suc-
cessors, by the name aforesaid, shall be for ever hereafter able and
capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer
and be answered unto, in all or any court of justice, and it shall
and may be lawful for them to have and use a common seal, and
the same to break, alter and renew, at pleasure, and generally to
do all tilings and acts which may be necessary to carry into effect
the benevolent designs of said corporation.
4. And be it enacted, That the said corporation, and (heir suc-
cessors, shall be capable of making such rules and by-laws as may
be necessary for the regulation and government of said corporation,
the same not being contrary to the laws and constitution of this
state, or of the United States.

CHAPTER 101.

A Supplement to the act, entitled, An act to provide for the
appointment of Commissioners for the regulation and im-
provement of the Town of Princess-Anne, in Somerset
County.
Whereas, doubts are entertained whether the commissioners
under the act, entitled, An act to provide for the appointment of
commissioners for the regulation and improvement of the town of
Princess-Anne in Somerset county, are authorised and empowered
to establish and regulate a market in said town, Therefore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the commissioners of said town, under the act to which this is a
supplement, be fully authorised and empowered, if in their opinion
the interest of the said town require it, to choose and fix on some
proper and convenient spot of ground, within the limits of said
town or precincts, for the erection of a market-house, and shall
contract for and purchase the same, or any part thereof which may
be deemed sufficient for the purpose aforesaid, and in case the
owner or proprietor of the said ground shall refuse to sell or dis-
pose of such ground, so selected and chosen by the commissioners
as aforesaid, then the said commissioners shall have full power
and authority to condemn so much of the said ground as will bo
sufficient for the. purpose aforesaid, and shall issue a warrant to
the sheriff of Somerset county, to summon a jury of twelve judi-
cious disinterested persons of the county, having no assessable
property within the said town; and the said jury shall meet at the
town of Princess-Anne, upon such day as the said sheriff shall
appoint, (of which appointment notice shall be given to the pro-
prietor of the ground thus condemned) and having first taken an
oath, or affirmation, as the case may be, to be administered by the
said sheriff, without partiality or prejudice to value the said
ground, and the damages sustained by the owner or owners by
means of such condemnation, according to the best of their skill
and judgment, shall proceed to make such valuation; and the said
