Vacancies.

R. Plater, Samuel Claggett, Thomas Wilkinson, and Thomas Gantt,
or a majority of them as shall undertake to act under this law,
shall before the sale or disposal of any ticket or tickets in said lot-
tery, give, their joint and several bond to the state of Maryland,
in the penalty of eighty thousand dollars, conditioned that they will
well and truly apply so much of the. money arising therefrom, with-
in twelve months after the drawing of the said lottery shall com-
mence, as will satisfy the fortunate adventurers for prizes drawn
by them, and defray the necessary expenses incurred in the ma-
nagement thereof.
2 And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of said com-
missioners before they act as such, to lodge such bond in the clerk's
office of Saint-Mary's county, there to be recorded, and upon such
bond, or office copy thereof, suit, or suits may be commenced and
prosecuted against the obligors therein, or any of them, or their or
any of their legal representatives, for any breach or non-compli-
ance with the conditions of the same.
3. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall apply
the sum received by them for such scheme to the purposes mention-
ed in this act.
4. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall within
one year after the drawing the said lottery be finished, or after the
sale of the scheme hereby authorised, apply the net proceeds there-
of to the benefit of the said school, and for purposes connected
with said academy.
5. And be it enacted, That in case any vacancy or vacancies shall
occur by the death, resignation, removal, or refusal to serve, of
any of the above named commissioners, then and in that case it
shall and may be lawful for the said board to make choice of any
person or persons to fill said vacancy or vacancies.

CHAPTER 53.

An act for the relief of Charles P. Graze of Frederick

County.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the deed from Frederick Stemble, senior, of Frederick county, to
Charles P. Graze of the same county, executed on the third day of
February, in the year eighteen hundred and sixteen, and recorded
among the land records of Frederick county, on the fifth day of
February in the year aforesaid, be and the same is hereby declared
to have all the force and effect in transferring the right and title of
said Frederick Stemble, of, in and to, lauds mentioned in said deed;
to said Charles P. Graze, as if said Charles P. Graze had been re-
gularly naturalized at the time of its execution, in conformity to
the laws of the congress of the United States regulating the natu-
ralization of foreigners; Provided always, That nothing contained
in this act shall in any manner defeat or affect any right, title or
claim, to the said property, or any part thereof, acquired or pro-
secuted by any person or persons whatever, before the passage of
this act; And provided also, in case the said Charles P. Graze hath
not as yet become a citizen of the United States, that unless he
proceeds, with all convenient speed, according to law, to make
himself a citizen of the United States, this act shall have no force
or effect to confirm his title to the property above mentioned, but
