CHAPTER 175.
An act for the relief of Elizabeth Sterrett of Washington
County.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the said Elizabeth Sterrett be and she is hereby divorced from bed,
board, and mutual cohabitation, with her said husband James
Sterrett.
2. And be it enacted, That all the right and title which the said
James, by virtue of his marriage with the said Elizabeth, had ac-
quired to any property which she is or may become entitled to in
any way or manner whatsoever, be and the same is hereby annul-
led and made void, and that the said Elizabeth be, and she is here-
by declared to be, capable to have, hold, take, receive, sue for and
recover, by compromise, suit or suits in law or equity, all such
property, in as full and ample a manner as if she were a feme sole,
and had never been married, and to hold, use and enjoy the same,
for her own use and benefit, and the same to dispose of according
to her will and pleasure, without the molestation, interference, hin-
derance or consent, of her said husband, in the same manner as she
could or might have done were she a feme sole.

CHAPTER 176.
An act to improve and keep in order the Streets in, and
Roads near, the Town of St. Michaels, in Talbot County.
Whereas, it is represented to this general assembly, by the
commissioners of the town of St. Michael's, in Talbot county,
and the inhabitants of said town, that the streets thereof are in
bad order, and that the said commissioners have no power by law
to compel the inhabitants to work on and repair them; nor does it
appear that the said streets are considered as part of the public
roads, so far as to bring them under the provisions of the road law
or laws for Talbot county; to remove that inconvenience, There-
fore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the passage of this act, the streets, lanes and alleys,
of the said town of St. Michael's, shall be considered as public
highways, and that the said streets, lanes and alleys, together with
one mile of the post road, measured each way from the gate of
St. Michael's church yard, shall compose one division or district,
which said district shall be repaired and kept in good order in the
manner prescribed by the road law or laws for Talbot county, by
and under the direction of the commissioners of the town of St.
Michael's, who are hereby authorised to call out and compel all
the male inhabitants of said town, over eighteen years of age, to
work on said streets, lanes and alleys, as often as may be necessa-
ry for the purpose of keeping them in repair, as also to call out
all the male inhabitants, over eighteen years of age, on the farms
now occupied by Samuel Harrison, Mark Sewell, Nathan Har-
rington, and Joseph Harrison, of Joseph, in addition to the inha-
bitants of St. Michael's, to work on the post road included in said
district only, but not on the streets of the said town, subject, to the
same penalties in case of refusal, delay or neglect, by either com-
missioners or labourers, as are pointed out in the act relating to
public roads in Talbot county.
