3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners aforesaid shall
cause a copy of the assessment, when completed, to be returned
under their hands and seals to the collector of the taxes for said
county, who is hereby authorised and required to collect the same,
in the same manner, and at the same time, as other county luxes
are collected, and shall pay over the money so as aforesaid collect-
ed, after deducting the usual commission, unto the commissioners
aforesaid or to their order.
4. And be it enacted, That the sum to be raised by the commis-
sioners aforesaid, shall not exceed the sum of twelve hundred dol-
lars, and any balance that may remain on hand after purchasing
the fire-engine, and procuring the house aforesaid, shall be laid
out in the purchase of fire-ladders, hooks, buckets, or other arti-
cles necessary for a fire-company.
5. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall have
power to borrow such sum or sums of money as may be necessary
to carry this act into effect, at a rate of interest not exceeding six
per centum per annum, and a majority of the commissioners afore-
said shall have full power and authority to carry all the provisions
of this act into effect.
6. And be it enacted, That when the citizens of said town, or
any thirty of them, shall associate themselves together for the
purpose of forming a company to be called "The William's-Port
Fire Company," and shall adopt a constitution, and lodge a copy
of the same, under their hands and seals, in the office of the clerk
of Washington county, to be there recorded, they shall from
thenceforth be considered an incorporated company, by the name
and title aforesaid, under the. same provisions of the law which
regulates the Hager's-Town Fire Company, and the fire-engine
aforesaid shall thereafter he kept under the direction of the said
company for the use and benefit of the inhabitants of the said
town.

CHAPTER 130.
An act to lay out and make public a Road in Anne-Arundel,
Montgomery, and Frederick Counties.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Col. Philemon Griffith, William Morsel!, Singleton Burgee. Perry
W. Beall, Edward Burgess, Henry Way man, and John Fry, be
and they are hereby appointed commissioners, and they or a ma-
jority of them are hereby authorised and empowered, to survey
and lay out, at the expense of the petitioners, or such other per-
sons as may contribute thereto, a road not exceeding thirty feet
in width, beginning for the same at some point on the road from
New-Market, to intersect the George-town road near Philemon
Griffith's lane, and from thence on the most direct and convenient
direction to intersect the old Baltimore and Frederick road, at or
near Henry Wayman's, so as to do as little injury as possible to
the lands through which the said road may pass; Provided, that said
road shall not pass through any houses, gardens, yards, orchards or
meadows, of any person, without the consent of the owners there-
of; and it shall be the duty of said commissioners to cause three
plots, of said road to be made out, and return one copy thereof to,
