freely open to the inspection of the directors, a majority of whom,
or any number of stockholders not leas than thirty, and holding
not less than one thousand shares, may at any time call a general
meeting of the stockholders for objects relative to the interest of
the company, giving not less than three months notice thereof
in some one of the public prints in the cities of Baltimore and
Annapolis.
33. And be it enacted, That the bank shall pay to the treasurer
of the western shore the sum of twenty cents upon the amount of
every hundred dollars subscribed and actually paid in, for each and
every year during the continuance of its charter, which sum shall
be, and the same is hereby pledged by the state as a fund for the
purpose of supporting county schools, to be equally divided among
the several counties of this state, and paid over in equal portions
to such persons in each county as the legislature may hereafter ap-
point.
34. And be it enacted, That if the president and directors of said
bank shall at any time refuse to pay specie for their notes when
called on, the charter shall be, and is hereby declared, null and
void; provided in case of such forfeiture the said bank shall be
authorised to recover all debts actually due at the time of said for-
feiture, as if no forfeiture had happened.
35. And be it enacted, That this act shall continue in force until
the expiration of the year eighteen hundred and thirty-five, and
until the end of the nest session of the general assembly which
shall happen thereafter.
CHAPTER 17.
An act for the benefit of Thomas Rowe of Cecil County.
Whereas Thomas Rowe, of Cecil county, hath represented to
this General Assembly, that a certain James Davis, executor of the
last will and testament of Samuel Davis, late of Cecil county, de-
ceased, did by deed, convey unto a certain William Cowan, John
Culbertson, and James Culbertson, a parcel or parcels of land, ly-
ing and being partly in Cecil county in the state of Maryland, and
partly in Chester county in the state of Pennsylvania; and that the
said William Cowan, John Culbertson, and James Culbertson, did
by deed convey unto the said Thomas Rowe all the said parcel or
parrels of land; and that the said John Culbertson was an alien at
the time when the said James Davis conveyed the said land unto
him, and also when the said land was conveyed unto the said Tho-
mas Rowe: And whereas the said Thomas Rowe hath prayed that
his title to such part of the said land as lies within this state may
be made valid, Therefore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the right, and claim, of the said Thomas Rowe to the said land,
as described in the deeds above referred to, and to the appurtenances
thereunto belonging, shall be and the same is hereby made as va-
lid, as perfect, and as complete, as if the said John Culbertson had
been naturalized agreeably to the laws of the United States, before
the said land was conveyed unto him the said John Culbertson,
James Culbertson. and William Cowan, any law of this state to
the contrary notwithstanding.
