Resolved, by the General Assembly, two thirds of all the members of each
house concurring, That the following address be presented to his excellency the
governor :
To his Excellency the Governor of the State of Maryland,
The General Assembly of Maryland conceive it to be their bounden duty, as
guardians of the public interest and safety, to call your attention to the conduct
and habits of one of the members of the judiciary.
It appears to the general assembly, from satisfactory testimony, that the in-
temperate habits of Zebulon Hollingsworth, of the sixth judicial district, asso-
ciate judge, is wholly incompatible with his official character and usefulness,
and that he has failed to give that attendance on the courts which the nature of
his appointment, and the interest of the public absolutely require. You are
therefore requested, immediately on the receipt of this address, to remove the
said Zebulon Hollingsworth from his office as associate judge.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby au-
thorised and directed, to pay to John Norris, of Harford county, or to his or-
der, the sum of sixty-four dollars and eighty-nine cents.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby au-
thorised, to pay to William H. Marriott, the sum of one hundred and eighty-
five dollars, for military services rendered to this state during the late war, out
of any unappropriated money in the treasury.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby di-
rected, to pay unto Peregrine Bantham, of Kent county, late a private in the
revolutionary war, annually, in quarterly payments, during life, a sum of mo-
ney equal to the half pay of a private, as a further remuneration for those ser-
vices by which his country has been so essentially benefitted.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby di-
rected, to pay to Jacob Jeffries, of Queen-Anne's county, late a private in the
revolutionary war, or to his order, annually, in quarterly payments, during file,
a sum of money equal to the half pay of a private, as a further remuneration to
him tor those services by which his country has been so essentially benefitted.

No. 53.
Resolved, That our senators and representatives in the Congress of the
United States, be requested to call the attention of the national legislature to the
shortness of the corn crop in this and some of the adjacent states, and to co-ope-
rate in such measures as the wisdom of congress may devise, to alleviate the
distress which our citizens will necessarily experience in case the apprehended
scarcity of bread stuffs throughout the union should be likely to be realized.
Resolved, That the honourable the President of the Senate, and the Speak-
er of the House of Delegates, cause copies of the above resolution to be made
out and signed by the President on behalf of the Senate, and by the Speaker on
behalf of the House of Delegates, and forwarded to the members of congress
from this state.

Resolved, That the executions against the securities of Thomas Pollard,
late sheriff of Allegany county, on judgments already obtained, or hereafter to
be obtained, at the suit and in the name of the treasurer of the western shore of
Maryland in Allegany county court, shall not he executed or levied before the
twentieth day of January next, provided the said securities severally, or together,
as they may be sued, shall with security to be approved by the clerk of the said
county, confess judgment in the several cases.
Resolved, That the sheriff of said county shall require the payment of in-
terest upon the judgment above mentioned only from and after the twentieth
day of January as aforesaid.
