CHAPTER 170.

An additional Supplement to the Act. entitled, An act to
alter and change the name of Elizabeth-Town, in Wash-
ington County, to Hagers-Town, and to Incorporate
the same.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all former contracts entered into between the moderator and
commissioners of Hager's-Town, and the citizens thereof, for
paving the streets of said town, he and they are hereby made va-
lid, ratified and confirmed.
2. And be it enacted, That the moderator and commissioners of
Hager's-Town for the time being, in addition to the powers
granted to them in the original act to which this is a supplement,
shall be and they are hereby authorised and empowered, to con-
tract with the citizens of the said town, and its additions, for
paving the streets and alleys thereof, in such manner as they by
ordinance shall direct.
: 3. And be it enacted, That the moderator and commissioners of
Hager's-Town for the time being, shall have full power and au-
thority to impose by ordinance such reasonable fines as they may
think proper, on all persons permitting their swine, geese or
goats, to run at large in said town or its additions, and to pu-
nish by fine, not exceeding twenty dollars for every offence, the
creating and refusing to remove, on notice, any matter or tiling
which the said commissioners may declare a nuisance by ordi-
nance, the said fines to be recovered in the same manner as
small debts out of court are recoverable by law in the state of
Maryland, and applied to the use of the said town.

CHAPTER 171.

An act authorising the connecting of Water Street with
King George Street, at Jones's Falls, in the City of
Baltimore.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the city commissioners of Baltimore be, and they are hereby au-
thorised and required, to alter and extend the lines of Water
street, from Warden street to Jones's Falls, and to alter and ex-
tend the lines of King George street to said Falls, in such manner
as shall be found the most suitable for erecting a bridge over said
Falls, thereby affording a convenient passage from one of those
streets into the other, and to make and return a plot of such al-
terations and extension to the register of the city, to be filed and
kept in his office as other public records.
2. And be it enacted, That the mayor of the city of Baltimore
be and he is hereby authorised and required, to appoint five suit-
able persons as assessors, to value and assess the damages which
may be sustained by any person or persons by the altering and
extending the said streets as authorised by this act, and to appor-
