CHAPTER 158.
An act authorising the Levy Court of Calvert County to
borrow a sum of money for the purposes therein menti-
oned.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That it shall and may he lawful for the justices of the levy court
of Calvert county, for the time being, to borrow a sum of money,
not exceeding six thousand dollars, from any citizen or citizens
of this state, for the purpose of repairing or rebuilding the court-
house and gaol of said county, on the lot whereon the walls of
the old court-house and gaol now stand, which money, when so
borrowed, shall be levied on the assessable property of said coun-
ty, in such proportions annually as will discharge the sum,
with interest, in the course of six years.
' 2. And be it enacted, That on the completion of the said court-
house and gaol, and the offices attached thereto, the offices of
clerk of the county court and register of wills, shall be kept,
with all the papers belonging to them, at the said court-house.
5. And be it enacted, That any law or laws authorising the
clerk and register to keep their offices at a different place, incon-
sistent with, and repugnant to, this act, be and the same is here-
by repealed.

CHAPTER 159.
An act for the benefit of Thomas H. Bowie, Register in
Chancery.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Thomas H. Bowie, register in chancery, be and he is
hereby authorised and empowered, to send out his fees on execu-
tion, for the year eighteen hundred and seventeen, at any time
until the thirty-first day of March next, any thing in any law
to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHAPTER 160.
An act to prevent the Fraudulent Sales of Flour and
Whiskey.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the first day of March next if any person
shall give, or promise to give, to any driver or person having
charge of any wagon, or other carriage, any sum or sums of mo-
ney, or goods of any description, for the purpose of obtaining
flour or whiskey, entrusted to the care of such driver or person
having the charge or care thereof, at any price below the market
price of the day, or shall wilfully make out any bill or bills for
the same, Without stating the full amount paid, or promised to be
paid, to such wagoner or person having care thereof, shall for-
feit and pay a sum of money not exceeding fifty and not less
than twenty dollars, one half to the use, of the informer, and the
other half to the case of the person injured, to be recovered
before any justice of the peace in the same manner as small
debts are recovered out of court.
