2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all monies which shall
remain in the treasury after discharging the journal of accounts,
and all unappropriated money which may come into the treasu-
ry, be first implied to the payment of the civil list for the ensu-
ing year.

CHAPTER 195.
An act to pay the civil list and other expenses of civil govern-
ment, for the year eighteen hundred and fifteen.
WHEREAS, those who dedicate their time, abilities and la-
bor to the public ought to receive a reasonable and adequate
compensation for their services, and no provision hath been
made for the payment of the civil list for the year eighteen hun-
dred and fifteen; Therefore,
Sec. 1. BE IT ENACTED By the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the following officers of civil government for
the year one thousand eight hundred and fifteen, shall be entitled
. to receive at the rale of the following salaries in current money,
to wit: The treasurer of the Western Shore, two thousand
dollars; the treasurer of the Eastern Shore, lour hundred and
fifty dollars, which sum he hath retained as will appear by his
account passed by the committee of claims; the auditor eight
hundred dollars; the clerk of the council one thousand dollars;
the clerk of the senate one hundred and fifty dollars; the clerk
of the house of delegates throe hundred dollars; the messenger
to the council two hundred and fifty dollars; the printer to the
state thirteen hundred dollars.
2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all monies which shall
remain in the treasury after discharging the journal of accounts,
and all unappropriated money which may come into the trea-
sury, be first applied to the payment of the civil list for the year
eighteen hundred and fifteen.
3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the printer to the state
shall be entitled to receive in advance out of any unappropriated
money in the treasury, the one fourth part of the salary herein
allowed to him.

CHAPTER 196.
An act for the benefit of Elizabeth Barrow, the widow, and the
devisees of William Barrow, late of Dorchester county, de-
ceased.
Sec. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the orphans court of Dorchester county, on the
application of Elizabeth Barrow, widow of the said William
Barrow, and being satisfied that it would be to the advantage of
the devisees of the said William Barrow, shall have full power
and authority to order the sale of a certain tract of land, lying
and being in the county aforesaid, now in the possession of the
said Elizabeth Barrow, and by the last will and testament of
the said William Barrow, devisee to the said Elizabeth during
her natural life, and after her decease to the children, William,
John, Mary, Ann, Caroline, Sully and Henry, with all the im-
provements and appurtenances thereunto belonging, upon such
