ghany county be, and he is hereby authorised and em-
powered to remove and bring into this state at any time
from and after the passage of this act, such slave or slaves
as he may now have a bona fide absolute right unto in
Hampshire county and state of Virginia, and the same to
retain as slaves; and that the power above allowed to him

may be excercised as often as he may think proper. Pro-
vided, that nothing herein contained shall be construed
to apply to any other slaves, but those now owned by
James Morrison or to liable the said Morrision to sell
or dispose of any slave or slaves imported by virtue of

this act or their increase until the said slave or slaves
shall have been within this state three years; Provided
also, that a list of such slave or slaves, containing their
names, ages and sexes of delivered in writing and sign-
ed by the said James Morrison, his overseer or agent,
to the clerk of the county into which such slave or
slaves shall be brought, and the said list shall be recorded,
at the expence of the said James Morrison.

CHAPTER 41.

Provisos.

An act for the benefit of Ann Morton a minor of Car-
oline county.
WHEREAS it is represented to this general assem-
bly by the petition of Henry Driver, guardian of Ann
Morton, that the estate of said minor consists of a tract
or parcel of land lying in Caroline county, containing
about one hundred and eighty acres, and some small per-
sonal property and that the said land is entirely destitute
of timber and will not furnish a sufficiency of fire wood
for a tenant and must very soon become entirely useless,
and praying that a law may puss authorising the orphans'
court of Caroline county to order a sale of the said land
for the benefit, of said minor under the directions of the

orphans' court aforesaid; Therefore,

Preamble.

SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the orphans' court of Caroline
county on the application of the said Henry Driver,
guardian of said Ana Morton, and being satisfied that it
is to the advantage of said minor shall have full power
and authority to order the sale of the said land and im-
provements thereon the property of said minor upon
such terms as the said court may judge proper and to
appoint a trustee for the purpose of effecting such sale.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That any sale made
by the authority of the orphans' court of Caroline county
aforesaid, under this act shall be notified to and confirm-
ed by the orphans' court aforesaid, before the conveyance
of the property shall be made and the trustee before be en-
ters upon the trust to him committed shall enter into
bond with two good securities to be approved of by the
said court to the state of Maryland for the due execution
