of Maryland, That the judges of the fourth election
district in Alleghany county, be and they are hereby
authorised and directed to hold in future the elections
in said district at and in the house of Meshac Frost on
the western turnpike road.

Right of the

state to a lot
released.

An act for the benefit of Robert Armstrong of Alleghany
county.
SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That all the right and title which the state
of Maryland has to one half of an undivided lot in the
town of Cumberland, distinguished and known by lot
No. 26, be and the same is hereby released unto Robert
Armstrong, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

Preamble.

An act to lay out and make, public a road in Queen Ann's
county.
WHEREAS sundry inhabitants of Queen Ann's
county have preferred a petition to this general assembly
praying that a road may be opened and laid out in said
county, and the prayer of the petitioners appearing rea-
sonable, Therefore,

SBC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Joseph Thompson, George Palmer,
Edward Coppage, James Roberts and Noah Merchant, of
said county, be and they are hereby appointed commis-
sioners for the purpose of this act, and that they or a ma-
jority of them are hereby authorised and required, to sur-
vey and lay out a road not exceeding thirty feet in width
clear of ditches, beginning at or near St. Paul's Chappie,
and running as nearly straight as the nature of the ground
will admit of until it intersects the main road leading
from Bullock Town to Emory's cross roads at the fork of

Proviso.

the Smyrna road near Peregrine Peaters; Provided,
That the said road shall not be made to pass through the
buildings, yards, gardens, or orchards of any person or
persons without the consent of the owner or owners
thereof.

supervisor.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the
duty of the commissioners aforesaid or a majority of
them to cause a plot and certificate of said road to be
made and return the same to the levy court of Queen
Ann's county; whereupon it shall and may be lawful for
the levy court of said county to levy upon the assessable
property of said county, a sum of money such as they
may deem necessary, and to appoint a supervisor, to open
and clear the said road agreeable to the plot and certifi-
cate aforesaid; and the said road when opened and
cleared as aforesaid shall be, and the same is hereby de-
clared to be forever thereafter a public road, and shall be
