turned into the land office of the Eastern Shore of Mary-
lend, for and in then-line's of Solomon and Risdon Dow-
ney, amounting to the sum of one hundred and twenty
two pounds, sixteen shillings and three pence ;
SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the treasurer of the Eastern Shore
be. and he is hereby authorised and required to allow-
to James Hopkins of Queen Ann's county, on his set-
tlement for the value of the .lands and improvements re-
turned to the Eastern Shore land office, in two several
certificates of resurvey and escheat, made for and in the
name of the said James Hopkins bearing date respec-
tively the twenty fifth day of May eighteen hundred and
fourteen, the one called" Bentons Hazard" the other
called " Hopkins Purchase" a credit for the sum of one
hundred and twenty two pounds sixteen shillings and
three pence, and to enter on the said certificates, receipts
for the same.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all the other re-
quisites and payments usual in such cases, being fully
complied with, patents shall be issued to the said James
Hopkins his heirs or assigns, for the several parcels of

to, provided that nothing herein contained shall affect
the right of any person or persons, who shall have any
legal claim to the said land, or any part thereof, by vir-
tue of any right required before the passage of this act.

Proviso.

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That upon the pay-
ment to the said James Hopkins by the said Solomon and
Risdon Downie, or their heirs, or assigns, of a just and
fair proportion of the legal costs and charges arising on
the said certificates (taking into consideration the se-
veral sums paid by the said Hopkins, and the said Solo-
mon and Risdon Downie respectively,) and of a just pro-
portion of the value and improvements of said land, (all
which parts and proportions shall be ascertained and de-
termined by the judge of the land office for the Eastern
Shore before patent shall issue,) the said James Hopkins
his heirs and assigns shall within six months after re-
ceiving a patent as aforesaid, convey and transfer to the
said Solomon and Risdon Downie or their assigns or le-
gal representatives, all that part of the land included
in his said certificates which is not contained by and
within the metes and bounds of the deed of bargain and
sale made and executed by the said Risdon Downie to
the said James Hopkins, bearing date the 7th day of
February in the year eighteen hundred and fourteen, and
duly acknowledged and recorded amongst the land re-
cords of Queen Ann's county.
