in the river Susquehanna down to the Maryland line, and
for other purposes therein mentioned, the bed of the river
Susquehanna, From the Maryland line to the bay of Chesa-
peake is hereby declared, and shall forever hereafter be a
public highway, and that individuals or bodies corporate
may at all times remove obstructions to its navigation;

Proviso.

Provided always, That nothing herein contained shall be
taken or considered to permit any person or bodies cor-
porate whatsoever, to do any act repugnant to the power
given by law to the proprietors of the Susquehanna Ca-
nal, over the waters of the said river, so far as the same
may he necessary for the purpose of supplying the said
canal, and the water works thereon.

or of Pennsyl-
vania.

9. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall he the
duty of the governor of this state to send a copy of this
act to the governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsyl-
vania.

Preamble.

CHAPTER 117.
An act to authorise the administrators of Thomas Contee
Bowie, late, of Prince George's county deceased, to
sell and convey certain real property therein mentioned.
WHEREAS it has been represented to this General
Assembly, by Mary M. Bowie, and Robert W. Bowie,
administrators of Thomas Contee Bowie, late of Prince
George's county deceased, that the said Thomas Contee
Bowie died intestate, leaving a large Family, and an es-
tate much incumbered with debt, and whereas amongst
other real property, the said Bowie died seized of a store
house and a granery in the town of Queen Anne in
Prince George's county, which is liable to decay and oth-
er casualties, and the said administrators having satisfied
this General Assembly that it will conduce to the benefit
of the representatives of the said intestate, that the afore-
said store house and granery should be sold for the pay-
ment of his debts; Therefore,

Section 1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That Mary M. Bowie and Robert
W. Bowie be, and they are hereby authorised and em-
powered as trustees to sell and dispose of in such manner
as to them may appear most advantageous to the estate,
the said store house and granery in the town of Queen
Anne aforesaid, for the payment of the debts of said in-
testate; and the said trustees or the survivor of them, on
receipt of the purchase money, shall by a good and suffi-
cient deed, convey to the purchaser or purchasers all the
right, title and interest of the representatives of the said
Thomas C. Bowie deceased, in and to the aforesaid prop-
erty authorised to be sold and conveyed by this act, and
the said deed when executed, acknowledged and record-
ed in the manner and form as deeds for the conveyance
of real estate in this state are now required to be, shall
be sufficient in law to convey all the right, title and in-
