CHAPTER 99.

An act for the relief of John Middleton, of Prince George's county.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
judges of Prince George's county court, be, and they are hereby
authorised and empowered to hear and consider the petition of
John Middleton, of said county, whenever it may be made to
them, ant' grant and extend to him the benefit of the insolvent
laws of this state; Provided, he shall appear to be in every respect
entitled to it except that of residence; provided also, that the said
Judges shall be satisfied that the said John Middleton did not come
into this state with the intention of taking the benefit of the seve-
ral acts of assembly passed for the relief of insolvent debtors.

CHAPTER 100.

An act to provide for old and infirm Negro Slaves belonging to deceased per-
sons estates.
Whereas, it appears to this general assembly, that old or infirm
negro slaves belonging to deceased persons estates which on settle-
ment, prove to be insolvent, are frequently subjected to great suf-
fering and want; Therefore,

Provision au-
thorised.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That from
and after the passage of this act, the levy courts in the several
counties of this state, be, and they are hereby authorised and re-
quired to make such suitable provision for all old and infirm negro
staves belonging to insolvent estates of deceased persons as in
their judgment may be necessary for their support and maintenance.

Proviso.

CHAPTER 101.

An act supplementary to an act entitled, An act to incorporate the Trustee*
of the Franklin Academy or School in Baltimore county.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the location of the Franklin Academy, or School of Baltimore
county, shall be forever hereafter fixed and established at Reister's-
town in said county; provided, that a good and sufficient building,
large enough to accommodate seventy scholars, be erected and
conveyed to the trustees of said academy and their successors,
together with a lot of ground attached thereto, containing not less
than half an acre, for the use of said academy, within eighteen
months from the passage of this act.

Repeal.

2. And be it enacted, That John Sumwalt, David Winchester, Jr.
Daniel Forney and Charles Larsh, be, and they are hereby ap-
pointed additional trustees for the said Franklin Academy.
3. And be it enacted, That any thing in the original act, to
which this is a supplement, inconsistent with the provisions of this
act, be, and the same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 102.

An act to enable the Mayor and City Council of Frederick to receive a be-
quest for the purposes therein mentioned.
Whereas, it has been represented to this general assembly, that
a certain William M. Beall, late of Frederick county, deceased,
did bequeath unto the Mayor and Corporation of Frederick-town
or city, five hundred dollars in money, to be distributed by said
Mayor and Corporation among the poor people of all denomina-
