securities of Roderick Burgess;, and also a claim against Henry Bassford, se-
nior, and John Knighton, securities of Henry Bassford, junior, which is now in
suit, and upon which judgment will be entered at the ensuing April term of
Anne Arundel county court; Provided also, that the amount of said judgment
and said claim shall be paid on or before the first day of August next; And
provided also, that the said William O'Hara shall on or before the first day
of March eighteen hundred and twenty six, pay and satisfy unto the treasur-
er of the western shore, whatever balance may then be due to the state.

Resolved, That Richard Waller, Esther Broughton, executrix of Josiah
Broughton, and Samuel Heath, securities of William S. Handy, late sheriff of
Somerset county, be, and they are hereby, released from the payment of the
nine per cent interest on the whole debt due by them to the state of Mary-
land: Provided, That the payment of the whole of the principal; six per cent
interest, and all the costs thereon shall be made on or before the first day of
March, eighteen hundred and twenty-six.

Securities of
W.S. Handy.

No. 54.
Resolved, That all proceedings against Matthew Murray and his securities,
in judgments obtained against them in Baltimore County court, by the State
of Maryland, shall be suspended until the first day of March, eighteen hun-
dred and twenty seven, upon the said securities filing with the attorney gene-
ral, and in the clerks' office of Baltimore county court their assent in writing
to such suspension; Provided, the said Matthew Murray or his securities shall
pay into the hands of the treasurer or state agent for the western shore, one
half of the whole sum due, with interest thereon, from the date of such suspen-
tion, on or before the first day of March, eighteen hundred and twenty-six, and
the remaining moiety with interest thereon from the date of such suspension,
on or before the first day of March eighteen hundred and twenty-seven: And,
Provided, also, That the lien of the state upon any real or personal property
shall not in any manner be discharged or impaired by this resolution; And pro-
vided, The said Matthew Murray shall give such additional security as shall
be approved of by the state agent of the western shore.

Whereas, a joint committee of the senate and house of delegates, having
been directed to contract for the printing of the laws and resolutions of the
present session, have in compliance with said order, contracted with Jere-
miah Hughes for the performance thereof, at and for the sum of four hun-
dred and eighty five dollars; Therefore,
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, pay unto Jeremiah
Hughes, the said sum of four hundred and eighty five dollars, out of any un-
appropriated money in the treasury, so soon as the said work, shall have been
performed; as contracted for.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, pay to Trueman Cross
engrossing clerk to the house of delegates, the sum of fifty dollars, as an addi-
tional compensation for his services.

No. 57.
Resolved, That the time allowed to John Carter, security of Basil Bowling,
formerly sheriff of Prince George's county, to pay the second instalment of
the debts due to the state from the said John Carter and Basil Bowling as di-
rected by resolution No. 5, passed December session, eighteen hundred and
twenty three, be extended to the first day of May, eighteen hundred and twen-
ty five, and all instalments required to be paid by the said John Carter, agree-
ably to the provisions of said resolution, be made payable on the first day, of
May of every year thereafter, until the whole debt due the state shall be
discharged: Provided, that the residue of the first instalment, now due, shall
be paid into the treasury, on or before the first day of May next, any thing in
said resolution to the contrary hereof notwithstanding.
