said debtors, until the first day of November next; Provided, that the said
debtors shall, on or before the first day of June next, pay the amount of inter-
est due by them on said debts, and also one half of the commission to which
the state agents are entitled by law.

No. 45.
Resolved, That the state agent for the western shore, shall take such steps
as to him may seem most advisable, in order to bring the said case to a final
settlement, by it suit at law, in equity, arbitration or otherwise; and the said
agent is also authorised and empowered, to cancel the bond of the aforesaid
Thomas Hall, whenever the heirs, executors or administrators of the said
Thomas Hall, shall relinquish to the state, all right, title, interest and claim,
in and to the said tract of land; and on this being done, the said agent is autho-
rised and empowered, to dispose of the state's right in. and to said tract of
land, at public or private sale, for cash or credit as to him may seem most
advisable; and the bonds or cash, when received, to deposit with the trea-
surer of the western shore.

No. 46.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore of this state, pay to An-
drew Slicer, messenger to the senate, and John Quinn, door keeper to the
house of delegates, the sum of sixty dollars each, for taking care of the fur-
niture of their respective houses, during the recess of the legislature.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to Joseph Mayo and
Lemuel E. Duvall, eight dollars each, and to Dennis G. Orme, sixteen dol-
lars, for attendance as extra clerks to both houses this session.

Certain
bonds.

No. 48.
Resolved, That no suits be brought on the bond of James Layton, Daniel
Murphy and John Valliant, before the first day of January eighteen hundred
and twenty six: Provided, That if the said James Layton shall pay, or cause to
be paid, into the treasury, of this state, one half of the principal and all the in-
terest due on said bond, on or before the first day of July, eighteen hundred and
twenty-five, all costs incurred in the prosecution of any suit or suits at the in-
stance of the state against said Layton and his securities, shall be paid by the
state.

Colleges, a-
cademies and
schools.

No. 49.
Resolved, That the commissioners, trustees or other authorities, of the se-
veral schools, academies and colleges, receiving funds, or donations, from this
state, shall each respectively, and the same are hereby required, to return
annually to the treasurer of the western shore, on or before the first Monday
in December, the amount of funds, or donations received by them, detailing
the manner of its application, or distribution; also the number and qualifica-
tion of the teachers employed, the rate of tuition, the number of poor children
admitted under the act of December session, eighteen hundred and twenty-
three, entitled, "an act to disseminate literature in this state," and the num-
ber of students or pupils in the classical department, and dead languages, in
the English and mathematics, and in the Lancastrian or other system, under
pain of forfeiting their share or apportionment of the said funds or donations,
and that the said treasurer be required to present annually, an abstract of such
returns with detailed remarks and information to this house on or before the
first Monday in January.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, pay to John Smith, of
Anne Arundel county, or to his order, during life, in quarter annual payments,
the half pay of a, private, as a further remuneration for his services during
the revolutionary war.

No. 51.

Resolved That the treasurer of the western share, be instructed to credit
the account of Benjamin G. Jones, late sheriff of Harford county, to the amount
of the award as made out by John Forwood, John Norris, and William D.
Lee, agreeably to a resolution, passed December session, eighteen hundred
and twenty three.

Resolved, That all proceedings at the suit of the state, against William
O'Hara, late sheriff of Anne Arundel county, be and the same are hereby sus-
pended until the April term of Anne Arundel county court in the year eigh-
teen hundred and twenty six; Provided, the said William O'Hara, shall with-
in the month of March next. assign to the treasurer of the western shore for
the use of the state, a judgment against Basil Burgess and Thomas Burgess,
