ford county, be, and is hereby changed and altered unto the name
of Thomas Jeffery; and it shall and may be lawful for the said
Thomas' Gorrell at all times hereafter, to be called and known by
and hold and use the name of Thomas Jeffery, and by that name
to sue, and be sued, in any court of law or equity.

2. And be it enacted, That all securities, promises, contracts, as-
surances, deeds, and lawful acts whatsoever hereafter to be made
and done by the name of Thomas Jeffery, shall be of the same
force and effect, and equally avail to all intents and purposes, as if
the name of Thomas Jeffery had been the original and proper
name of the said Thomas Gorrell.

CHAPTER 20.
An act for the relief of George Dashiell, late sheriff of Somerset county,
and Beacham Acworth, John Fowler and Benjamin Dashiell his securities.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That George
Dashiell, late sheriff of Somerset county, and Beacham Acworth,
John Fowler and Benjamin Dashiell, his securities, be, and they
are hereby released from the payment of the nine per cent interest
on the whole debt due to the state of Maryland; Provided, that
the payment of the whole of the principle, six per cent interest,
and all the costs thereon, shall be made within twelve months from
the passage of this act.

CHAPTER 21.

A supplement to an act, entitled, An act relating to Coroners.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That from
and after the passage of this act, no juror summoned by a coroner
or justice of the peace on an inquest, in the city and county of Bal-
timore, shall be entitled to, or receive any fee or compensation for
his services, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHAPTER 22.

An act for the benefit of Robert Landers of Frederick County.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it shall
and may be lawful for Robert Landers of Frederick county, a na-
tive of Scotland, to have, hold, possess and enjoy all real property
heretofore acquired by him by purchase or otherwise, or which
may hereafter be acquired by him in the same manner and to all in-
tents and purposes as he would or could do, if at the time of such
purchase he had been a natural born citizen of the United States;

Passed Jan.

13, 1825.
May hold
property.

Provided always, that nothing in this act contained shall in any
manner defeat or affect any right, title or claim to any such proper-
ty or any part thereof, acquired or prosecuted by any person or
persons whatsoever before the passage of this act; And provided
also, that the said Robert Landers shall within twelve months after
his being capable of becoming a citizen, naturalize himself agree-
ably to the laws of the United States, but if the said Robert Lan-
ders, should die before the period herein allowed for his being
naturalized, the real property which he may have purchased or ac-
quired shall nevertheless pass to his legal representatives in the
same manner as if he had become naturalized.
