sires from considerations in her said petition set forth, to have her
name altered to Louisa Jacob, and that said George Jacob wishes
to adopt the said Louisa as his daughter; And whereas, the pray-
ers of said petitioners are reasonable and ought to be granted;
Therefore,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the name of said Louisa Decoutres, be, and the same is hereby al-
tered and changed to Louisa Jacob, and from and after the pas-
sage of this act, the said Louisa shall and may be called and known
by the name of Louisa Jacob, instead of Louisa Decoutres, and
that by the said name of Louisa Jacob she shall and may sue and
be sued, in any court of law or equity; and that to every intent and
purpose whatsoever after the passage of this act, the said name of
Louisa Jacob be held to be the name of said Louisa.

CHAPTER. 151.

A supplement to an act entitled, An act to provide a revenue for the support
of the government of this State.
Whereas, by the act to which this is a supplement, passed at De-
cember session, eighteen hundred and twenty three, it was made
the duty of the collectors to pay into the treasury of the eastern
or western shores, as the case may be, the sums to be collected by
them, on or before the first day of December last; And whereas, it
is represented to this general assembly, that from the low price of
produce, and the pecuniary distresses of the people, the collectors
of this direct tax in the several counties of this state, have been un-
able to collect the taxes imposed on their respective counties, by
the said act, Therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
collectors of the several counties of this state, shall be allowed un-
til the first day of May next, to complete their said collections,
any thing in the Jaw to which this is a supplement, to the contrary
notwithstanding.

CHAPTER 152.

An act to widen Water street, between South and South Calvert streets, in
in the City of Baltimore.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the city commissioners of Baltimore be, and they are hereby em-
powered to open and extend Water street to an equal width in the
square between South street and South Calvert street, by removing
the projection of the building known and distinguished by the
name of the Cheapside Hotel, beyond the regular south line of
Water street.
2. And be it enacted, That the said city commissioners, together
with two other discreet and disinterested persons to be named by
the judges of Baltimore city court, who are hereby authorised to
make such nomination, shall constitute a board of commissioners,
a majority of which board shall at any time before the first day of
July next, after having give ten days notice in any one of the news
papers published in the city of Baltimore, and being first sworn
