SAMUEL STEVENS, Jr. ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

Dec. Ses. 1823

whereat the said Malachy Craddock is an alien, lately arrived in this
country, and his said infants died, leaving no heirs, by reason whereof
their said property became escheat to the state of Maryland; and
whereas George H. Stuart, of the city of Baltimore, took out a war-
rant of escheat for the said lot, intending the same for the benefit
of the said Malachy Craddock and his wife Mary; and the said
George H. Stuart is willing that an act should pass securing to the
said Malachy Craddock and his wife Mary, all the right, title, in-
terest and enjoyment of, in and to the said lot; Therefore,

Sec 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
all the right, title and interest of the state of Maryland, in and to a
certain lot situated on Love Lane in Frederick Town aforesaid, more
particularly described in a deed from Jacob Doll to Thomas Crad-
dock and Lawrence Craddock, bearing date the tenth day of Decem-
ber eighteen hundred and twenty-one, and recorded among the land
records of Frederick county, in liber J. S. No. 15, folio 403, 404 and
405, be and the same is hereby declared to be released to the said
Malachy Craddock and Mary his wife, for their joint lives, and al-
ter their death to the heirs of the bodies of the said Mallachy Crad-
dock and Mary his wife, and failing such issue in tail, then to the
right heirs of the survivor of them the said Malachy Craddock and
Mary his wife, provided nevertheless, that the said Malachy Crad-
dock shall on or before the first day of January eighteen hundred
and twenty-nine, if he be living, complete his naturalization and be-
come a citizen agreeably to the laws of the United States; and pro-

vided also, that nothing in this act contained, shall be taken or con-
strued to extend to, destroy, or alter, or in any wise impair the rights
or claims of any person or persons in and to the said property pro-
secuted or acquired before the passage of this act.

2. And be it enacted, That the said Malachy Craddock and Mary
his wife, and all persons intended to be benefitted by this law, shall
have the' same rights and securities in the enjoyment of the aforesaid
property, as if the said Malachy Craddock and Mary his wife, were
naturalised citizens of the United States of America,

Preamble.

CHAPTER 85.

An act for the relief of Hillary B. Stringer, of North Hampton county, in the
State of Virginia.
Whereas, it is represented to this general assembly by the pe-
tition of Hillary B. Stringer, that he is now in confinement in Bal-
timore county jail for debts which he is unable to pay, and that he
is deprived of a right to resort to the insolvent laws of this state,
by reason of his not having resided two years in the state of Mary-
land according to the provisions of the said laws; Therefore,

Insolvency.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Hil-
lary B. Stringer be, and he is hereby authorised to prosecute a peti-
tion for the benefit of the insolvent laws of this state, without being
compelled to prove his residence in the state of Maryland for the
last two years, and that his want of residence shall not prevent him
from obtaining the benefit of the said insolvent laws of this state;
Provided, that the said Hillary B. Stringer shall satisfy the commis-
sioners that he did not come into this state for the purpose of ob-
taining the benefit of the insolvent laws of said state; provided also,
that the said Stringer comply with all the other terms and conditions
of said insolvent laws.
