section as required of him, he shall be fined a sum not exceeding one
hundred dollars, in the discretion of such court martial, as the case
may require.

18. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the oldest
Colonel, in rank on parade of each brigade to ascertain and report in
writing to the brigade courts of appeal respectively, before or during
the sitting of the same, the brigadier general of his brigade, if absent,
and also such of his staff officers as are absent from the division re-
view as herein established; and the senior officer in the rank, on pa-
rade shall in like manner ascertain and report the Major General if
absent, and also such of his staff as are absent from said review to
the brigade court of appeals of the third brigade; and each of said
courts shall have power to remit such fines as may have been incur-
red by the said officers respectively for absence from said parade,
under the same conditions as are prescribed by this act for other of-
ficers; and if any officer shall neglect or refuse to comply with any
of the provisions of this section, as required of him, he shall be fin-
ed a sum not exceeding fifty dollars, in the discretion of such court
martial as the case may require.

19. And be it enacted, That if any general whose duty it shall be
to attend shall refuse or neglect to attend any of the meetings prescribed
by this act, he shall forfeit the sum of fifty dollars; and if any regimen-
tal field officer, or division or brigade staff officer whose duty it shall
be to attend, shall refuse or neglect to attend any of the meetings
