authorised to cause all that part of Anne street from Dulany street
to Gough street, and all that part of Gough street from Anne to
county street, and also all that part of county street from Gough
street to the water of the harbour, to be paved at such time and in such
manner as the mayor and city council of Baltimore aforesaid may
deem proper, any thing in any other act of assembly to the contrary
thereof, in any way notwithstanding.

2. And be it enacted, That the proprietors of ground fronting and
binding on all those streets or parts of streets hereby authorised to
be paved, be, and they are hereby made liable to the mayor and city
council of Baltimore aforesaid, for one half of the expense of pa-
ving the same, in such proportion as is usual where paving is
done under the now existing acts of assembly, and ordinance of the
city of Baltimore.

3. And be it enacted, That the proportion of the expense of the
paving hereby authorised, and made chargeable to the proprietors of
ground as aforesaid, be and the same is hereby declared to be, and is
, made alien upon the said ground according to the proportions there-

4. And be it enacted, That if the proportions of the expense of the
paving hereby authorised, is not paid within 30 days after the same
shall have been completed that the mayor and city council of Balti-
more shall have power to enforce the payment thereof, by a distress
and sale of the goods and chattels of the said proprietors, respec-
tively, then being upon the said premises, or for want of a sufficient
distress by a public sale of the said premises, or by an action at law
in Baltimore county court, as they may deem proper.

5. And be it further enacted, That the mayor and city council of
Baltimore, be and they are hereby authorised and empowered to pass
all such ordinances as they may deem most effectual to carry into ope-
ration the powers hereby granted to them.

CHAPTER 164.

An act authorising the orphans1 court of Charles county to decree the
sale of certain property.
WHEREAS, it appears to the legislature by the representation of
the guardian of Francis F. Sheid, a minor, that it may be for the in-
terest of said minor that his personal estate should be sold and the
proceeds applied to the payment of the debts due by his late father
Francis H. Sheid, deceased; therefore,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the or-
phans' court of Charles county be, and it is hereby authorised, upon
the application of Martha Cawood, guardian to Francis F. Sheid,. a
minor, to order and direct a sale of such minor's personal estate or
such part thereof, as they may adjudge proper, upon such terms and
conditions as they may deem right, upon its being made appear to
them that it will conduce to the interest and benefit of the said mi-
nor, and the money arising from the sale of said property shall, when
collected, be paid into the orphans' court, to be applied under their
order to the payment of the debts of Francis H. Sheid, deceased, and
the said Martha Cawood is hereby appointed trustee to make said
sale if any shall be ordered by said court who shall be allowed by
said court such commission as they may think proper.
