Jenefer S. Taylor, John Brown and James Dukes be, and they or a
majority of them, are hereby constituted a board of commissioners,
and vested with full power and authority to carry into effect, the above
recited act and the several supplements thereto except the section
herein before excepted.

2. And be it enacted, That the seventh section of the aforesaid
supplement passed at November session, eighteen hundred and se-
ven, chapter one hundred and thirteen, and the further additional
supplement passed at December session, one thousand eight hundred
and fifteen, and the act restricting the powers of the bailiff of the vil-
lage of Denton, to the limits thereof, passed at December session,
one thousand eight hundred and sixteen, chanter one hundred and
fourteen, be, and the same are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER. 131.

An act to authorise the county clerks of this state to judge and ap-
prove of security incases therein mentioned.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Man/land,
That the clerks of the county courts of this state be, and they are here-
by authorised and empowered, in their respective counties, to judge
and approve of the securities in appeal bonds, writ of error bonds,
bonds for the removal of proceedings by writ of certiorari, and in-
junction bonds, in the same manner that the judges of the county
courts of this state are now authorised and empowered to do, any

law to the contrary notwithstanding.
2. And be it enacted, That the clerk shall have, for every bond by
him so approved, twenty-five cents, to be paid by the party present-
ing such bond, and to be taxed in the costs as other charges are.

CHAPTER 132.

An act relating to a landing place on the northwest branch of Nanti-
coke river.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That if any petition or application shall be made to the levy court of
Dorchester county, for opening or straightening of a road from
Leven Stack's landing till it intersects the main road leading from
Even's Mill to the north-west fork bridge, then the commissioners
appointed to open and straighten said road, by the levy court shall
have authority, and are hereby directed to lay out a quantity of land,
not exceeding two acres, for a public landing, on the north-west prong
or fork of Nanticoke river, at a place called Stack's landing, in such
manner as they or a majority of them may think most condusive to
the public benefit, and the said commissioners are hereby required
to return a plat of said landing place to the clerk of Dorchester coun-
ty court, there to be recorded together with an estimate of the dam-
ages sustained by any person or persons whose land may be taken,
laid out, and appropriated in pursuance of this law.

2. And be it enacted, That the levy court to whom the return as
aforesaid shall be made, shall determine whether the damages by
them adjudged as aforesaid shall be paid by the persons petitioning
for the said road or levied on the county, or may direct the said da-
mages to be paid by the petitioners and the county in such proportion
as the court may deem just.

are hereby impowered and directed, to assess and levy on the county
the damages so ascertained by the commissioners aforesaid or such
