cember, in the year eighteen hundred and one, and recorded among
the land records aforesaid in Liber W. G. No. 69, folio 491.
2. And be it further enacted, That the state of Maryland doth
hereby release to the said John Tessier, his heirs and assigns forever,
all claim to any sum or sums of money to which the state may be,
or might have been entitled, in virtue of the aforesaid warrants of
escheat, and that the said John Tessier hold the estate to which he
has become entitled by the said warrants, free clear and discharged
of all demands which the State of Maryland might have upon the
same by reason thereof Provided, That nothing in this act, shall be
construed to impair the rights or claims of any person or persons to
any part of the said pieces or parcels of land acquired previous to
the passage of this act.

Relinquish-
ment.

CHAPTER 45.

An act to repeal so much of the act therein mentioned, as relates to
Somerset county.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That so
much of the act of December session, eighteen hundred and eighteen,
chapter one hundred and eighty-four, as relates to Somerset county,
be, and the same is hereby repealed.

Repeal.

CHAPTER 46:

An act for the benefit of Dennis Hill, and Sophia Livess, of Freder-
ick county.
WHEREAS, It is represented to this general assembly by the peti-
tion of George Hoffman, administrator of Clara Johnson, that the
said Clara being a free woman of colour, died intestate, leaving Den-
nis Hill, her brother, and Sophia Livess, her sister, her nearest rela-
tions, and that the said Dennis and Sophia have been manumated by
the last will and testament of Francis Hoffman, late of said county-
deceased, to be free at the respective periods following to wit: Den-
nis, to be free on the first day of April, eighteen hundred and twenty
seven, and Sophia on the first day of April, eighteen hundred and
thirty-six; and it is further represented, that the said Clara died
possessed of certain personal property consisting in part of bank
stock in the Mechanics Bank of Baltimore, and it appearing reason-
able that the interest which the state may have in the personal estate
of said Clara, should be released to the said Dennis and Sophia;
Therefore,

Preamble;

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all the right, interest or claim which the state of Maryland may
or can have in the personal estate of the said Clara Johnson, de-
ceased, be, and the same is hereby granted, released and relinquished
to George Hoffman, his executors and administrators, in trust to and
for the said Dennis and Sophia, their executors, administrators and
assigns, in equal parts, and the said trustee is hereby authorised to
ask, demand, sue for and receive all, or any part of said personal
estate, and the same or the proceeds thereof to dispose of or put
out on interest, for the purpose of accumulating until the respective
periods at which the said Dennis and Sophia shall become free, and
at the expiration of such period shall pay the same to the said Den-
