CHAPTER 237.

An act to repeal an act entitled, An act for the relief of Edward
Godman, of Montgomery county.
Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the levy court of Montgomery county shall not hereafter annually
levy on the assessable property of said county, the sum of forty dol-
lars for the use and support of Edward Godman or his wife, as di-
rected by the act of eighteen hundred and eighteen, chapter one
hundred and ninety-nine, except so long as said court may think
the said Godman or his wife stand in actual need of support.

CHAPTER 238.

A further supplement to an act entitled, An act for Licensing and re-
gulating Ordinary Keepers.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That upon application by petition in writing to any county court, by

any citizen thereof, for a license to keep an ordinary or to retail
spiritous liquors, and the payment of the sum chargeable upon the
same, and security appearing, the court shall be and hereby is em-
powered to grant the license under the same rules and regulations
as are prescribed for the granting of licenses when personal appli-
cation is made; and the recognizance entered into by the security-
aforesaid, with the petitioner named therein as principal, shall be
as equally binding and obligatory upon the said petitioner, as if
he had been personally present; and the license thus granted shall
be of as full force and effect as though it had been granted in the
manner heretofore directed, any law or usage to the contrary not-

withstanding.

2. And be it enacted, That where any license has been or
may hereafter be granted, and shall not have expired at the death
of the party so obtaining the same, it shall and may be lawful for
the heirs, executors or administrators of the said part)-, to enjoy
all the privileges which said license conferred on the party who

obtained the same; Provided, The said heirs, executors or adminis-
trators as the case may be, shall give to the clerk of the court two
securities to be approved of by said clerk; and the heirs, executors
or administrators of the said person who shall apply for and obtain a
license, and comply with the provisions of the original act to which
this is a supplement, then and in that case the clerk shall allow for
and admit the proportion of price of the original license as re-
mains unexpired at the term of granting said license to the heirs,
executors, and administrators aforesaid, as part of the consideration
for said license.

Proviso.

3. And be it enacted, That this act shall not extend to any
other counties in this state than the counties of Frederick, Wash-
ington and Allegany.

Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland, That
