CHAPTER 23.

An act for appointing a Printer to the State.
Sec. 1. Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Jehu Chandler, be, and he is hereby appointed and constituted
printer to the state.
2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the printer
appointed by virtue of this act, to print the laws and votes and
proceedings of the general assembly of this state, agreeable to the
provisions of the act of 1790, chapter 51, section 3, and in confor-
mity to the 64th resolution, passed November session, eighteen
hundred and eleven. And it shall also be his duty to print in the
same manner, a number of the votes and proceedings of each ses-
sion of the said general assembly, over and above the number re-
quired by the said act of 1790, chapter 51, section 3, as shall be
sufficient for each of the judges and justices of the peace of this

State.

3. And be it enacted, That the printer to the state, shall,
within fifteen days after the close of every annual session of the
general assembly, enter into bond to the state of Maryland, in the
penalty of twenty-four hundred dollars, with such security as shall
be approved by the treasurer of the western shore, which bond shall
be lodged with the said treasurer, conditioned that he will, as prin-
ter to the state of Maryland, faithfully print the laws and votes and
proceedings of the general assemblies of Maryland, on paper of
good quality, in the manner and in the time directed by law. And
if the said printer, in case he accepts thereof, shall refuse or neglect
to enter into bond as aforesaid, such printer shall forfeit and pay
the sum of one hundred dollars current money, for such refusal or
neglect, to be recovered and applied in the same manner as other
penalties, and shall moreover forfeit his salary as printer to the

4. And be it enacted, That in case of the death of the prin-
ter appointed by this act, or his refusal or neglect to enter into the
bond required by this act, during the recess of the legislature, the
governor and council shall proceed to the appointment of some
other person to perform the duties required of the printer appointed
by this act. And in case such person accepts said appointment,
he shall, within fifteen days thereafter, enter into the bond required
of the printer appointed by this act; and on his neglect or refusal
to enter into said bond within the time aforesaid, he shall be sub-
ject to the same penalty and forfeiture as is provided by the fourth
[third] section of this law.

5. And be it enacted, That the act of assembly, entitled, An
act for appointing a printer to the state, passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and sixteen, chapter ninety-eight, be, and the
same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 24.

An act for the re-valuation of Real and Personal Property in Calvert
county.
Sec. 1. BE it enacted By the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of the tax for Calvert county, be, and they
are hereby authorised and empowered to meet at the county town,
as soon as may be practicable after the passage of this act, and there
