1820.

2. And be it enacted, That before the said trustee shall proceed
to sell said lot and premises, he shall give public notice thereof,
and of the time, place, and terms of sale, by advertisement in at

least two newspapers of the city of Baltimore, at least ten days
before the time appointed for said sale, and shall also, before the
said sale, file with the clerk of Baltimore county court his bond,
with one or more securities to be approved of by any one of the
judges of Baltimore county court, made to the state of Maryland,
in the penalty of ten thousand dollars, and conditioned for the
faithful performance of his said trust, and of any further order
that shall be made by the court aforesaid in the premises.

CHAP. 138.

Treasury to give
notice of sale.

3. And be it enacted, That Baltimore county court, as a court
of equity, shall have and exercise full power and authority, on
return of the trustee's report, to confirm or reject the same, and
if need be to order another sale, and also to make distribution of
the net proceeds, on confirmation of any sale, to and amongst the
parties interested, as justice and equity shall dictate, and in case
said trustee shall depart this life, or be removed before the trust
is completed, to appoint another as fully and effectually, as if the
present sale had been ordered on a bill filed in said court, and
the trustee appointed by its authority.

CHAP CXXXIX.

An Act to authorise Mary Young, of the City of Baltimore, to import and bring
into this State from the State of Virginia a certain Negro Slave.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly by the pe-
tition of Mary Young of the city of Baltimore, that her brother
Wilson C. SeIden of the state of Virginia, has proposed to pre-
sent the said Mary Young with a negro woman slave named Ala-
ry, on condition that the said Mary Young be permitted to import
and bring the said negro woman slave Mary into this state, and
hold her as a slave; Therefore,

Passed Feb. 12, 1821.

Preamble.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Mary Young of the city of Baltimore, be and she is hereby au-
thorised, to import and bring into this state, and hold as a slave
for life, a negro woman named Mary, given and presented or
about to be given and presented to the said Mary Young, by her

brother Wilson C. Selden of the state of Virginia; Provided ne-
vertheless, that nothing herein contained shall be construed to au-
thorise a sale or disposition of the said negro Mary within three
years next succeeding the passage of this act, otherwise than by
bequest, in a course of distribution, or by operation of law, and
that the said negro woman Mary lie registered in the clerk's of-
fice of Baltimore county court, within three months next alter her
arrival into this state.

CHAP. CXI.

An Act for the relief of Charlotte Warfield, of Montgomery County.

WHEREAS it is represented by Charlotte. Warfield, of Montgo-
mery county, that she intermarried, on the seventeenth day of Oc-
tober eighteen hundred and twenty, with a certain Thomas Ni-
cholson, who was at that time, without her knowledge, the, hus-
band of another woman; now, that testimony thereof may be tak-
en and preserved.

Passed Feb. 12, 1821.
