where the offence may be committed, for and during the conti-
nuance of the said camp or quarterly meeting, and no longer.
5. And be it enacted, That if any justice to whom any sum
may be paid by virtue of any of the provisions of tins act, shall ne-
glect or refuse to pay over the said sum to the levy court of the
county entitled to the same, such justice shall forfeit a sum double
in amount to the sum received, to be recovered by indictment in
the county court of the proper county.

6. And be it enacted. That such parts of any act of assembly
which are repugnant to, or inconsistent with the provisions of
this act, be and the same are. hereby repealed, so tar as respects
the several counties herein before mentioned.

CHAP. LXXXIV.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, An Act to incorporate the Roman Catholic
Congregation in Baltimore Town.

WHEREAS the most Reverend Ambrose Mareschal, Archbishop
of Baltimore, the Reverend James Whitfield, Rectors of said
Congregation, David Williamson, Luke Tiernan, Philip Law-
rence, Basil S. Elder, John Walsh, William Jenkins, and Ro-
bert Harry, the present Trustees of the said Congregation, have
represented to this general assembly, by their memorial, that a
change of circumstances, as set forth in their said memorial, has
rendered certain alterations and modifications of their said act of
incorporation necessary and proper; and it appearing reasonable
that the prayer of the said memorial should be granted, There-
fore,

Preamble.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That from
henceforth the corporation or body politic now known and distin-
guished by the name, style and title of The Trustees of the Ro-
man Catholic Congregation in the Town of Baltimore, shall be,
and they are hereby declared to be, a corporation and body poli-
tic, by and under the name, style and title of Trustees of the Ca-
tholic Cathedral Church of Baltimore, and that the said trustees,
by the name lust aforesaid, and their successors, to be elected as
hereinafter mentioned and provided, shall have perpetual succes-
sion, and shall be able and capable in law to purchase, take, hold,
receive and enjoy, to them and their successors, in fee simple, or
for any lesser estate, any property real, personal or mixed, winch
by the constitution and laws of this state may be acquired and
held by religious societies, not exceeding one hundred thousand
dollars, exclusive of the Cathedral; and also that the said trus-
tees, by the name aforesaid, shall be able and capable in law to
sue. and be sued, implead and be impleaded, answer and be an-
swered unto, in any court of law or equity, in as full and effectu-
al manner as any oilier person or persons, bodies politic or cor-
porate, may sue or be sued, implead or be impleaded, answer or
be answered unto; and that it shall and may be lawful for the
said trustees, by the name aforesaid, to cause to be made and to
use a common seal, to authenticate all acts and instruments of
writing respecting their business and concerns, and the same at
pleasure to alter and renew.
