1820.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Philo
D. Forest be and ho is hereby authorised to prosecute his petition
for the benefit of the insolvent laws of this state, without being
compelled to prove his residence in the state of Maryland for
two years previous to his application for the benefit of the said
laws, and that his want of residence in this state shall not pre-

vent him from obtaining the full benefit of the laws; Provided
always, that in every other respect he comply with the conditi-
ons of the said insolvent laws, as fully as if he had resided the
proper length of time in the state of Maryland, and this law had
not been passed.

Proviso.

2. And be it enacted. That the judge and court to whom the
said Philo D. Forest shall make application for a personal and
final discharge respectively, as the case may be, shall be respec-
tively satisfied by a competent testimony other than the oath of
the said Philo D. Forest himself, that he did not come to this state
for the purpose of avoiding the payment of his debts.

CHAP. LVIII.

An Act for the Relief of Benjamin Rawlings, of the City of Baltimore.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Ben-
jamin Rawlings of the city of Baltimore, shall be and he is here-
by entitled to the benefit of the insolvent laws of this state, upon
the terms and conditions therein prescribed, except that he shall
not be required to produce evidence of his having resided two
years in this state, immediately preceding the time of his appli-
cation, for the benefit of the said laws.

2. Provided always, And be it enacted. That the judge and
court, or commissioners, to whom the said Benjamin Rawlings
shall apply for a personal and final release respectively, under
the said laws, shall be respectively satisfied, by legal and compe-
tent testimony, other than the oath of the said Benjamin Raw-
lings, himself, that he was born in this state, and resided therein
till the year eighteen hundred and fourteen, and returned thereto
in November eighteen hundred and nineteen, not for the purpose
of avoiding the payment of his debts, but with a bona fide inten-
tion of permanently residing therein.

CHAP. LIX.

An Act to annul the Marriage of Joseph Price, and Sarah his Wife.

WHEREAS it has been represented to this general assembly, by
the petition of Joseph Price, of Caroline county, that his wife
Sarah Price has eloped from his bed and board, without any just
cause or provocation on the part of her said husband, and has tak-
en up and lives with a black man, in a state of open and disgrace-
ful adultery; from which distressing evil he prays to be relieved;
and the prayer of the petitioner appearing reasonable, Therefore,

Preamble.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Joseph Price, of Caroline county, be and he is hereby divorced
from bed, board, and mutual cohabitation, with his wife Sarah
Price.

Divorce granted.

2. And be it enacted, That all property, either real or personal,
which the said Joseph Price may hereafter acquire, shall be held,
possessed and enjoyed, by the said Joseph Price, free and. clear
