sale in the manner hereby contemplated under this act, the presi-
dent and directors of said bank shall cause the cashier there-
of to make out a schedule of the estate of said bank, shewing
particularly the nature of every species and kind belonging to
said bank, with the names of the several debtors, and also the
amount due by said bank, which said schedule or settlement shall
remain in the banking room, during banking hours, for the in-
spection of the stockholders, that they may the better judge of
the value of the stock of said bank previous to the disposal there-
of in the manner aforesaid.

CHAP. 47.

4. And be it enacted, That the President, Directors and Company
of the City Bank of Baltimore, be and the same are hereby au-
thorised and empowered, to sell or dispose of the interest of the
said bank in the Cumberland road .lock, and to transfer to the
purchaser or purchasers thereof the same rights, privileges and
immunises, that are now possessed by the said bank under the
act incorporating the said turnpike company.
5. And be it enacted, That this act shall cease to have any effect
should the said bank proceed to transact any other business than
such as may be necessary to wind up the concerns of the same.

CHAP. XLVIII.

An Act for the Relief of the Sheriff's and Collectors of the several Counties in
this State.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That in
all cases where the sheriffs and collectors of the tax of the seve-
ral counties in this state, have heretofore failed, or shall hereaf-
ter fail to collect monies which they are authorised and directed
to collect, in the time limited by law, that such sheriffs and col-
lectors, their executors or administrators, may apply, by petition
in writing, to the judges of the county courts of their respective
counties, and the judges, by an order made on such petition, shall
have power, in their discretion, to limit and appoint such further
time to complete the collections of the sheriffs or collectors; and
the court shall have power, from time to time, in manner afore-
said, to extend the time of collection by the said sheriffs or col-
lectors; and it shall be the duty of the clerk of the county court,
where such petition is filed, to record the proceedings aforesaid,
tor which he shall receive from the persons filing the petition,
such fees as he receives for recording deeds.

2. And be it enacted, That it may be lawful for the securities,
or the survivor or survivors of them, of the said sheriffs and col-
lectors, to apply as aforesaid, and whenever an application may
be made by the executors or administrators, and also the securi-
ties or security, the judges of the court shall determine which ap-
plication may be, granted, and the same proceedings shall be had
on the application of the securities or security as are directed by
the first section of this act.

3. And be it enacted, That until the next term of the county
court in any county of this state, after the passage of this act, any
judge of said court, upon the application of any of the parties
above mentioned for the benefit of the provisions herein before
contained, may pass an order granting the saute to said applicant,
