Treasury conceived it his duty to refuse to pay
the same; therefore,
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Treasurer of the State
be and he is hereby authorised, on the warrant of
the Comptroller, to pay to Henry Hagan or order,
the sum of one hundred dollars, for the services
mentioned in the preamble to this act.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after its passage.

AN ACT entitled an act for the relief of Edward
Bowers, of Carroll county.
|

ary 23, 1858.

|
WHEREAS, Edward Bowers was convicted by the
Circuit Court for Carroll county, at its Septem-
ber Term, eighteen hundred and fifty-seven, of
having begotten an illegitimate child on the
body of Matilda Shean, and is now confined in
the jail of said county in default of security for
the maintenance of said child, and whereas the
said Edward Bowers is utterly and hopelessly in-
solvent and unable to give such security; There-
fore ;

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful
for the judge of the Circuit Court for Carroll coun-
ty, to order the release and discharge of the said
Edward Bowers from the jail of said county and
from his confinement therein by reason of his de-
fault to give security for the maintenance of said
illegitimate child.
