for the support of Primary Schools in said Dis-
trict.

Authorised to
impose a tax.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said trustees
or a majority of them, and their successors who
may hereafter be elected or appointed, at the next
period of making their annual levy, and annually
thereafter, may impose upon all the assessable
property in said district, a tax not exceeding thir-
ty-three and a third cents in the hundred dollars.

Repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts
of acts inconsistent with this act be and the same
are hereby repealed.

AN ACT to regulate the issuing of licenses to
Ordinary Keepers and Traders.

Required to
obtain license.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That on and after the first day
of May next, it shall not be lawful for any person
or persons, body or bodies corporate, within this
State, other than the grower, maker or manufac-
turer of the specific articles which shall be therein
exposed for sale, except such maker or manufac-
turer as hereinafter specified, to barter or open,
set up, keep or use any booth, stall, shop, office,
store, warehouse or other building, yard, inclosure,
vessel or any other place, or part of any house,
building or other place, for the purpose of selling
by wholesale or retail, or bartering any dry goods,
groceries, imported dried fruit, glass, crockery,
hardware, drugs or medicines, paints, printed
books, stationery, saddlery, gold, silver or plated
wares, jewelry, toys, wearing apparel, salted pro-
visions or fresh provisions, grain, meat, flour,
timber, tobacco, cotton, leather, hides, lime,
wrought or cast iron, copper or tin, spirituous or
fermented liquor, or any other kind of goods,
wares or merchandise, foreign or domestic, with-
out first obtaining a license, in the manner pre-
