CHAPTER 399,

AN ACT to incorporate a Company to make a
Turnpike from Bel Air to Frogtown.

Passed March
6, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That a company is hereby in-
corporated to make a Turnpike Road from the
town of Bel Air to Frogtown, in Harford county.

Object of in-
corporation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital
stock of said company, shall be five thousand
dollars, in shares of twenty dollars each.

Capital stock.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the subscrip-
tion books shall be opened at Bel Air, on or be-
fore the first day of May next, for subscriptions
for the capital stock of said company, and that
Samuel Galloway, William Boulden, John
S. Dallam, Archer H. Jarrett and Stevenson
Archer, be and they are hereby appointed com-
missioners to receive such subscriptions.

Books to be
opened.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That when one hun-
dred shares of said stock shall have been sub-
scribed, the said commissioners shall give twenty
days notice to the subscribers, to meet at a time
and place to be fixed by said commissioners, for
the purpose of organizing said company, and the
said subscribers at such meeting shall elect a
President and five directors, to serve until the first
Monday in January thereafter, and until their
successors shall be elected and qualified, and the
stockholders of said company shall annually on
the first Monday in January, or within sixty days
thereafter, elect a president and five directors.

Meetings.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the stockhold-
ers of said company are hereby created a body
politic and corporate, by the name of the "Bel Air
and Frogtown Turnpike Company," and by that
name shall have perpetual succession, and shall
have all the privileges and franchises of a corpo-
ration, and may sue and be sued, make a corpo-
rate seal and by-laws for the regulation of the
company, such by-laws not to be inconsistent with
the laws of this State.

Incorporated.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the sums so
subscribed for the stock of said company, shall be
paid to the president and directors aforesaid, in
