this department will be greatly augmented by
issuing to the graduates of said school, diplo-
mas under the authority of the State of Mary-
land; Therefore,
|
|
|
Power to grant
diplomas.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Maryland Institute for
the promotion of the mechanic arts, shall have
power to graduate students in its departments of
designing and drawing, and to issue, under its
seal and authority, diplomas to such students as
shall show a proficiency in said department, and
who shall pass a satisfactory examination, under
such rules and regulations to that end, as may be
adopted by the Maryland Institute, or its Board
of Managers, and that the diplomas so issued,
shall be certified by the professors in, and the
Standing Committee on said school of designing
and drawing, and attested by the officers of the
Institute.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the day of the date of
its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate "The New Cut Turn-
pike Company."
|
|
|
Incorporated.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That a company be and the
same is hereby incorporated for making a turn-
pike road on the bed of the county road in Balti-
more county, commencing at the terminus of the
Franklin Turnpike Road, at or near Dorsey's
lime kiln, and running thence to the New Cut
road, then on the bed of the New Cut road to its
intersection with the Rolling road.
