deem proper upon the assessable property of said
county, a sum of money not to exceed in the
whole two thousand dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 284.

8,1858.

AN ACT to authorise the Commissioners of the
Tax of Charles county, to levy a sum of money
sufficient for the support of Anne E. H. Fer-
rell, an insane pauper of said county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, the Circuit Court for Charles County,
at December Term eighteen hundred and fifty-
seven, upon an inquest of Lunacy being found,
ordered that Anne E. H. Ferrell, of said coun-
ty, be sent to the Maryland Hospital, situated
in the city of Baltimore, there to be confined
at the expense of the county aforesaid until she
shall have recovered or been discharged; And
whereas, it appears by the certificate of the
Medical Superintendent of said Hospital that
the department therein for the insane poor has
already in it the number of persons allotted to
it, and on that account the said Anne E. H.
Ferrell, cannot be received, Therefore,

County Com-
missioners to
levy.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Commissioners of the
Tax of Charles county, be and they are hereby
authorised and required to levy upon the assessa-
ble property of said county, annually, a sum of
money sufficient to defray the expenses of keep-
ing Anne E. H. Ferrell, an insane pauper of
said county, either at the Mount Hope Asylum,
or Maryland Hospital, in the city of Baltimore,
at their discretion, untill she shall have recover-
ed or been discharged.

In force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect immediately from and after its passage.
