CHAPTER 282.

AN ACT to compensate Charles J. M. Gwynn,
for cases argued in the Court of Appeals under
the direction of the Governor of Maryland.

Passed March
5, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Treasurer is hereby
directed to pay on the warrant of the Comptroller
the sum of six hundred dollars to Charles J. M.
Gwinn, in full compensation for arguments in the
following cases in the Court of Appeals of Mary-
land, said arguments having been made under
the appointment, and by the direction of the Go-
vernor of this State, to wit: in the case of the
State, vs. John S. Gittings, Trustee of Lambert
S. Norwood, in the case of the State, use of Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore, vs. Lambert S.
Norwood and others.

Treasurer au-
thorised to pay.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 283.

In force.

AN ACT to authorise the Commissioners of
Anne Arundel County, to levy a sum of money
for the enlargement and repair of the Alms
House of said County.

8, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Commissioners of
Anne Arundel county, be and they are hereby
authorised at their discretion to put in necessary
repair the present Alms House of said county,
and also in their discretion to make such addition
thereto as by them may be deemed necessary ;
and in order to meet the expenses which may be
incurred in the performance of this duty, that the
said Commissioners shall have by virtue of this
act, full power and authority to levy at such time
or times, and in such sum or sums as they may
