or silver coin, shall be entitled to all the rights,
powers, privileges and franchises, and he subject
to all the duties, restrictions, limitations and con-
ditions of the several banks comprehended in an
act entitled, an act to continue the corporate exis-
tence of the several hanking institutions therein
mentioned, passed at January session, eighteen
hundred and fifty-three, chapter four hundred and
forty-one, and any supplement or amendment
thereto, which has been heretofore or may here-
after be passed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the American Improve-
ment Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That George W. Hughes, Duff
Green and Silas Semour, and the persons who may
become the owners of the shares herein authorised
to be issued, be and they are hereby made a body
corporate, under the name and style of the Ameri-
can Improvement Company, and in that name
may have perpetual succession, and may purchase,
have, hold, use and acquire, by any lawful means,
estate real and personal, and the same may use,
sell, lease, let, mortgage, transfer and convey,
and otherwise dispose of; and may sue and be
sued, plead and be impleaded, contract and be
contracted with, and have and use a common seal,
and the same may change at pleasure; and may
make by-laws and regulations for the management
of their affairs; and may have and use all the
powers, rights and privileges, which are or may
be necessary and proper for them to have, as a
Company incorporated for the purposes herein
stated.
