LAWS OP MARYLAND.

ing the following rates, which tolls shall not be
altered oftener than once a year, and those paya-
ble shall at all times be made public at the said
bridge, to wit: for every coach chariot, phaeton,
stage or other carriage of pleasure, drawn by four
horses, with four wheels, one dollar and fifty cents;
for the like carriages with two horses, one dollar;
for a wagon with four horses, one dollar; for a
wagon with two horses, seventy-five cents; for a
chaise, riding chair, gig, cart or other two wheeled
carriages, with two horses, sixty-five cents; for
the like carriages, with one horse fifty cents, or if
drawn by mules or oxen, shall be charged the same
as horses, for one horse or mule and rider, twenty-
five cents; for a single horse or mule, fifteen cents:
for every foot passenger, ten cents; for every head
of horned cattle, fifteen cents, for every sheep,
five cents, for every hog, ten cents, and for all
such carriages drawn by oxen in the whole or
partly by horses, and partly by oxen or by mules,
shall be charged the same as horses in the charge
of said tollage.

Exempt from
taxation.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That in considera-
tion of the risk and expense, to be incurred by the
said Company, in erecting the said bridge or
bridges, and keeping the same in repair, the said
bridge or bridges, and all the profits of the same,
shall be and hereby are vested in the President
and Directors aforesaid, and their successors, to
and for the use and benefit of the stockholders
aforesaid, in proportion to their respective shares
of stock in said Company, and the same shall be
and remain exempt from any tax or appraisement
whatever.

Repealed,

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That section fourth
of chapter two hundred and eighty, being an act
to incorporate Conowingo Bridge Company, passed
December session, eighteen hundred and forty-six,
be and the same is hereby repealed.

In force.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
