CHAPTER 208.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to make valid deeds and other in-
struments of writing, defective in the acknow-
ledgment or in the certificate thereof.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That all deeds and other instru-
ments of writing which have been executed and
acknowledged and are recorded in this State, pre-
vious to the passage of this act, which may not
have been acknowledged according to the laws
existing at the time of such acknowledgment, or
where the certificate of acknowledgment is not in
the prescribed form, be and the same are hereby
made valid to all intents and purposes, as if the
said acknowledgment and the certificate thereof

had been in legal form; Provided, that said deeds
and other instruments in other respects are in con-
formity with the laws; And provided further, that
nothing in this act shall affect the interests of bona
fide purchasers or creditors without notice, who
may have become so previous to the passage of
this act.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the Peabody Institute of
the city of Baltimore.

WHEREAS, George Peabody, Esq., of London,
formerly of Baltimore, has recently made a mu-
nificent donation for the purpose of founding
an Institute in the city of Baltimore, the de-
sign and objects of which, are set forth in a let-
ter from Mr. Peabody, to certain persons therein
named, of which the following is a copy.
