CHAPTER 200.

AN ACT to prevent the sale of intoxicating
liquors in Mount Airy, Carroll county, and
within a half mile of the same.
|
|
|
Sale of spiri-
tuous liquors
prohibited.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That from and after the tenth
day of May next it shall not he lawful for any
person to sell or dispose of any distilled, ferment-
ed or intoxicating liquors whatever in the village
of Mount Airy, or within a half mile of said village.
|

Penalty for
violation of act.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person vio-
lating the first section of this act shall forfeit and
pay for the first offence the sum of fifty dollars,
and for each and every subsequent offence shall
pay the sum of one hundred dollars and he im-
prisoned in the county jail for a time riot exceed-
ing thirty days, said fines to he recovered before
any justice of the peace in the county where the
offence shall have been committed, one-third of
said fine to he paid to the informer and the residue
to the school commissioners for Carroll county, for
the use and benefit of the primary schools in said
county.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after the tenth day of May ,
next.
