CHAPTER 16.

AN ACT to authorise the Clerk of the Circuit
Court of Howard county to make new indexes
of all the land ami chattel records in his office
in the manner and form prescribed by law.

Passed Febru-
ary 11,1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Clerk of the Circuit
Court for Howard county, be and he is hereby
directed to make new alphabetical indexes of all
the land and chattel records in his office.

Clerk autho-
rised.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the county
commissioners for Howard county shall levy on
the assessable property of said county for such sum
of money as in their discretion will be sufficient
to compensate said clerk for the faithful perform-
ance of the work herein directed to be done by
him.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 17.

In force.

AN ACT to change the commencement of the
April term of the Circuit Court of Dorchester
county.

Passed Febru-
ary 11, 1858.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the April term of the
Circuit Court of Dorchester county, shall here-
after commence on the fourth Monday in April
of each year instead of the second Monday, as pro-
vided for in the act of eighteen hundred and
fifty-six, chapter one hundred and ten.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the term com-
mencing on the fourth Monday of April next, by
virtue of this act, shall stand as, and be consid-
ered as substituted for the term heretofore com-
mencing on the second Monday of April, in refe-
rence to all cases now on the docket of said
court.
