three, thirty hundred and sixty-five, thirty-two
hundred and thirty-nine, and thirty-two hun-
dred and forty, lying in Allegany county, and
contiguous to each other, were duly awarded by
the Commissioners appointed under the aforesaid
act, to Elijah Evans, a captain of the Maryland
line in the army of the Revolution, and a ticket
received from said Commissioners for said lots,
And whereas, said lots were sold and an assign-
ment made by the said Elijah Evans to Gene-
ral Otho H. Williams, late of Washington
county, whose heirs have held them in posses-
sion, and exercised ownership thereon, up to
the present time; Therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the aforesaid assignment
or conveyance, mentioned and recited in the pre-
amble of this act, shall be and the same is hereby
declared to be as valid and effectual in law and
equity, as if the same had been made by deed in
proper form, by the said Elijah Evans, before a
judge of a court of law, or a justice of the peace,
and certified in due form, by the clerk of said
court, as required by the laws of this State.

Made valid.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act contained, shall affect the rights of bona fide
purchasers, or of any other persons claiming any
rights of property in said lots, prior to the pas-
sage of this act, nor shall it affect in any manner
any suit or suits now pending in any of the courts
of law or equity in this State.

mer State's Attorney for Anne Arundel coun-
ty, for the trial of the case of the State vs.
Thomas R. Tongue.
